The workshop examined crowdfunding in science, as a social phenomenon, as a practical way of raising funds to support STEM research, and as a mechanism to increase the interaction between STEM professionals and the general public. Our workshop brought together a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to academic scientists and engineers, social entrepreneurs from government and private sectors, scientific societies, and research management professionals. The workshop included networking, panel discussions, and significant audience-driven discussions.
